Although I have no love for Paul Graham's Arc language, I did find myself largely agreeing with his rant on Great Hackers. It has, however, greatly upset the normally more objective java community.
Among the various responses, I found this gem:
Java is basically the modern COBOL, used for grinding out business apps in 100-developer teams of mediocre programmers. The "next big thing" will not be written in Java.
